WILD HORSE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS, EXPERIENCE THE PEACEFUL WILDERNESS OF NEVADA’S HIGH DESERT COUNTRY OF THE GREAT BASIN AND LEARN ABOUT THE LIVING LEGENDS OF THE WEST, where you will get the opportunity to view them up close or see them galloping through the desert, kicking up the dust. All the action makes great photographs.
It will be a full day of excitement and fun photographing the wild horses and you will be learning about the different social dynamics within the herd. You may capture a glimpse of a wild horse band galloping across the wide open desert landscape or gathering at a watering hole, or see a newborn foal trying to stand on his long wobbly legs to nurse, or maybe even a stallion fight. In the wild horse herd each stallion has his own band of mares and will fiercely defend an unwelcome suitor trying to take his mares away. Young bachelor stallions are kicked out of the herd at around 2 years of age and must go out and acquire their own herd of mares, so the older stallions are always on alert for danger to his herd from any young stallion who thinks he might be tough enough to challenge him to gain control of his herd.
